(To be realised)
This is a collective book by 22 Greek writers. The stories told take place in several Greek islands: Paros, Naxos, Corfu, Kefalonia, Amorgos, Antiparos, Syros, Mykonos, Kimolos, and Milos. But also in other places and towns in mainland Greece: Patras, Salonica, Tyros Kavala, and Arta.
From the back cover text:
Twenty-two writers from every small and large part of Greece share with us real events, legends and stories that they either personally witnessed or learned about, capturing the emotions, desires and dreams of people from an old and long-forgotten world. Many of these stories strike a chord with us, like “Maria’s Shoes” from Corfu. Others, such as the story of “Hagarenos,” a donkey from Amorgos, captivate us, while the voice of Vangelis the fisherman takes us back to Naoussa, Paros, in the 1950s. But it is “Yiannoula of our Hearts” from Patras, the story of a woman whom society mocks and ridicules, which touches us in a way that no other does... Without a doubt, a lost Greece comes to life in these pages.
